The struggles of acute hunger are heavily reported-and while still a concern, chronic hunger is the most wide spread. Chronic hunger designates a state of long-term undernourishment and usually arises in connection to poverty.
Here's the Problem...
Hunger Doesn't Just Mean An Empty Stomach
It means a weakened immune system; disease, physical and mental stunting, the inability to become productive members of society, and a risk of disease that medication will not be available for-leading them from one problem to another.
Hunger Leads to Child Labor
Food security and child labor are closely linked. When a parent cannot afford nutritious food nor the resources to grow their own, they are forced to resort to child labour over education in order to survive.
Poverty
Poverty is the principal cause of global hunger. The unequal distribution of income and lack of resources in developing countries means that millions of people simply cannot afford the land or farming supplies they need to grow, or otherwise gain access to nutritious food.
Hunger Dominates in Developing Nations
66 million school-aged children are attending school on an empty stomach across the developing world. Despite phenomenal economic growth and production of sufficient food to feed its population, a large number of people-especially women and children do not have access to sufficient food.
